And what I say is true.

Last Thursday Al Gore gave a speech for the whole USA to hear, asking them to reduce fossil fuel use by 100% in 10 years. He also asked everyone who came to his speech in Washington DC to take public transit, ride their bike or take any other form of eco-friendly transportation to get to the event. But, contrary to what he asked himself, Al Gore came to the event in a caravan of two Lincoln Town Cars and a full-sized SUV which was idling for 20 minutes outside while the Gore family sat inside.

I think that this is a disgrace to all the people who really care about the environment and who are actually doing something to help it.

Another Point Made by Radiohead

Radiohead just came out with their newest album called "In Rainbows." In this album there is a track called "All I Need" which shows the difference between a child's life in somewhere like the UK or the USA versus a child's life in a country like China or another country in Asia. The video is great because it clearly illustrates that point of view. To watch the video, follow the link at the bottom of the post.
Another video and song by Radiohead though I think is even better. It's the song called "Just" from their album "The Bends." It comes with a very odd video that shows a man walking down the street in a city. All of a sudden, he lies down in the middle of the sidewalk. Because this one man has done one thing slightly out of the ordinary, everyone who walks past thinks he's mad, or crazy or stupid. I think that this video is great because it shows what we really think of as "normal." And if someone does something just a bit out of the ordinary, he's immediately labeled as "crazy."
This is a great video by a great band.
Radiohead - All I Need
Radiohead - Just

Kids Can Have Ideas Too!

I just completed Elementary School and next year will be going into Junior High. Near the end of grade 6 we had a substitute teacher for one day, I did not like the substitute. This is because she made it clear to the class that she though kids could not change the world or even make a difference. She thought that no one could make a difference in the world unless they had money. This is not true.

We are a group of global minded kids who would like to see a change in the world, whether it's in the worlds politics, environment or way that we treat war, poverty and many other things. We have already made a difference in the world, even if it has been small. Two years ago, me and my class did an activity for earth day to raise awareness about the environment and raise money to plant trees in our schoolyard. We ended up raising over $400 and were able to plant 4 trees. This year we started a group to raise money for World Vision. We had a lofty goal of $4 000 that no one really thought we'd make. In the end, we raised exactly $6 000 with the help of numerous fundraisers and many personal donations. Two of the biggest being $2 000 from the Flaman Foundation and another $2 000 from Mill Woods Developments. At the end of this project we held a "press release" with Global TV, the Edmonton Journal and invited the Flaman Foundation and Mill Wood Developments.
